The operations engineer your business never had room to hire

I'm Evan, founder of SortaSystems. I created this business because I kept seeing the same opportunity everywhere, from sole traders to local firms and growing SMEs: time matters, and technology should give more of it back.

But the tools meant to help are often fragmented. Work gets split across systems, small tasks turn into admin, and people who should be focused on what they do best end up wrestling with software that was supposed to make the job easier.

I spent years in cybersecurity and enterprise software environments where slow, fragile, or badly owned systems become expensive quickly. SortaSystems brings the useful parts of that world to smaller businesses: clear design, sensible security, quick systems, recoverable data, and costs that stay under control.

Serious systems, made usable

The mission is to bring the useful parts of serious engineering into everyday business systems: clear ownership, sensible security, reliable integrations, recoverable data, controlled costs, and tools people can actually use without needing to become technical.

Build, connect, and tidy what the work depends on

We start with how the work actually moves: where decisions get delayed, what gets typed twice, which system owns the truth, and what breaks when someone is away. Then we build or connect the missing piece: an AI assistant, an internal tool, a custom integration, a website, a cleaner cloud setup, or a product you already pay for configured properly.

The shape follows the work. AI is useful when the job involves judgement, messy inputs, documents, emails, or conversations. Deterministic automation is better when the steps are predictable. We use both where they fit, then make sure the systems underneath are maintainable, secure, and sensible to run. See what gets built.

Good businesses outgrow messy systems

The work is there. The customers are there. But the setup starts to lag behind: spreadsheets multiply, tools pile up, and important steps live in one person's head. When the systems do not grow with the business, progress starts depending on memory, copy-paste, and workarounds.

Understand the work. Fix the right thing. Leave it owned

We do not start by selling a platform. We start by understanding how the work runs today, what is costing time or creating risk, and which fix will make the biggest difference. Then we build, connect, or tidy what is needed, document it clearly, and make sure ownership stays with you. If you are not sure where to start, the Diagnostic is the natural entry point.

  • AI systems for real workflows: assistants, RAG knowledge bases, document handling, and agentic automation
  • Custom software for SMEs: internal tools, dashboards, portals, and small systems built around the way the business works
  • Business automation and integrations: connecting forms, CRMs, inboxes, accounts, payments, and reporting without repeated admin
  • Websites and web apps: fast static sites, WordPress, JavaScript builds, and business-critical web tools
  • Fractional IT and business setup: domains, DNS, email migration, cloud hosting, accounts, permissions, and supplier cleanup
  • Security and recovery basics: MFA, access control, backup checks, disaster recovery, and ownership of critical accounts
  • Cloud and hosting that stay sensible: AWS, GCP, Cloudflare, and lightweight architecture that keeps performance high and costs controlled
  • Documentation and handover: clear notes, ownership records, and systems your business can keep running

If your business feels held back by systems that no longer fit, we would like to hear about it. It's a practical conversation about what might help, not a sales call.
